PHSE Coordinators Meeting: ask the local experts Q&A session - Primary

Online Microsoft Teams

< Back to CPD Activities

Thank you to those of you who completed the RSE and HE survey. This has provided useful insight on how far some of you have come in planning ahead for the statutory phase of RSE and HE provision and highlighted the gaps on where I can help you move forward.

From the feedback, you have said you would like to take part in a virtual network. I want to take this opportunity to coordinate an RSE & HE network for North East Lincolnshire. This will provide an opportunity to promote and share good practice from other schools, resources, local experts guest speakers and give a chance to discuss the latest development within the RSE and HE statutory guidance.

Never before has RSE and HE been so important with the impact of Covid-19 on our schools. DfE have clearly stated they want RSE and HE to still be delivered with a major focus on mental health provision and support for children and staff moving forward together in a safe and effective learning environment. As you know RSE and HE helps children and young people to protect themselves and others both online and offline, improves their physical and emotional health, and develops character, resilience, academic attainment and employment prospects, with the greatest benefits experienced by the most disadvantaged pupils.

All of this will help to be evidenced in your Personal Development judgement for Ofsted.

Ofsted inspectors will look at pupils’:
• Resilience, confidence and independence
• Knowledge of how to keep physically and mentally healthy
• The breadth and balance of the curriculum and its impact on pupils’ outcomes and their personal, development, behaviour and welfare

They will also look at:
• The importance of learners’ discovery of their interests and talents
• How schooling is preparing pupils for life
• How schools are developing an age appropriate RSE/RE and Health Education.

This gives schools and academies a fantastic opportunity to support the health and wellbeing agenda, as well as giving it a much higher priority for all the pupils and staff even more so now we are in the recovery phase of Covid-19.

The sessions will be a mixture of face to face and online (Microsoft Teams) which will be changed throughout the year. Once your booking has been successfully completed, you will receive a link to join the meeting a few days before it is due to take place.
